On 27 March 2007, the party`s only MEP, Jim Allister, left the party, contrary to the decision to form a government with Sinn Féin. He retained his seat as an independent MP as chairman of his new radical party against the St Andrews Agreement, which he formed along with other disgruntled members who had left the DUP in this case, traditional Unionist Voice, a seat he retained until Diane Dodds returned to the DUP in 2009.
